John Wasileski came to Maine from Upstate New York and proceeded to develop a number of projects, including three premiere retirement communities in Maine. He was one of the first to embrace the idea of full-service retirement communities that provide a choice of homes as well as facilities for extended care. Unlike many developers, John established long-term personal relationships with his residents and continues to operate and improve his properties.

The histories focus on the stories of his residents and the reasons they chose this as their retirement option. This is also a story of the development of raw land and the process of working with the towns and the community. In a great success story, John partnered with a group of local environmentalists to create an educational group, CREA, the Cathance River Education Alliance Ecology Center, which provides environmental education for local schools and the community at large. CREA is a blueprint for developers everywhere.
