WHAT WE DO

Camden Writers, established in 1997, offers more than 25 years of experience in the creation of histories and memoirs for families, family offices, businesses, and organizations. Our client list illustrates that we have worked extensively across the country and in England. The Camden Writers library includes more than a hundred volumes covering a wide range of subjects and experiences. Both the process and the product are thoughtfully tailored to the individual client.

The first step is a meeting, either in person or virtually, during which we can learn more about your project and answer your questions.

Getting Started:

  • There is no obligation or charge for this initial interview.

​

  • Ours is essentially an oral history process during which we engage in conversations that provide the narrative. Typically, a meeting lasts for about two hours; if we are with the client, we often meet twice a day and then perhaps informally over a meal in order to get to know each other better. We take care to provide sufficient meetings to cover the material in depth.​​

  • The conversations are taped, transcribed, and edited. We ask specific questions, but much of our interaction is committed to listening and drawing new questions from the material we receive from you.

  • The process is collaborative from beginning to end, as we share drafts and edit and add material.​​

​​

  • Graphics are an important component. We specialize in designing the books and making sure the final product reflects the subject matter. We scan and repair photographs and other material, which can include letters and documents.​​

​​

  • We prepare the material for final printing, in whatever form you choose, and work closely with the printers throughout.
